Ampang PKR Youth Chief Adam Rosly says he will declare all of his assets if there is an official order by the party to do so.
Speaking at a press conference at the Ampang PKR office today, Adam said that while he agreed with his party’s secretary-general that he declare his assets, there was no real need for him to do so as he was not a civil servant.
「I agree with Rafizi’s (Ramli) call to declare my assets, but for what reason since I』m not a civil servant?
「But, if it’s a general and collective directive from the party to clear the air, I』m ready to do so.
「In fact, I have already contacted a lawyer,」 he said, adding that he would have to declare his assets anyway if he was chosen to contest in the upcoming general election.
Yesterday, Umno Youth exco member Armand Azha Hanifah claimed that Adam was an intermediary between Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin and the state government in acquiring sand mining projects, from which he allegedly received commissions.
Adam however denied ever receiving any such project or form of commission from the state government while holding the post of Youth chief.
「I』m not a proxy for (Selangor Menteri Besar) Mohamed Azmin Ali or Zuraida. Why must everything that happens in Selangor be associated with Azmin?
「What state government projects have I acquired? Does it mean that people only join politics to acquire projects?」 he asked, while stating that his motive for joining PKR was to support the 「reformasi」 movement.
When pressed to divulge further information regarding the nature of his personal business, Adam however refused, saying it was a private matter and would affect his business if he spoke about it.
Earlier this week, Adam was implicated in a corruption scandal after Red Shirts leader Jamal Yunos took members of the media on a helicopter ride above the youth leader’s luxury bungalow in Jalan Pinang, Ampang.
According to Jamal, Adam’s bungalow was allegedly worth RM7 million. However, Adam refuted the figure, explaining on Monday that he had bid only RM1 million for the property.
Adam also said having wealth or a 「Datuk」 title was not something strange today and challenged Jamal to lodge a report with either the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Meanwhile, Adam said he would file a lawsuit against Jamal and Ampang Umno division chief Ismail Kijo for false accusations and slander.
